A weekday cottage break by the lake
Weekdays are when the lake is at its quietest. Salkolahti has ten properties in Orivesi and the Lake Längelmävesi region, with prices from €58 per night. Tampere is about 70 kilometres away, less than an hour by car.
Three ways to enjoy a weekday break
One night along the way. Orivesi lies between Tampere and Jyväskylä. A one-night stop by the lake is a very different experience from a roadside motel — and guests often mention this in their reviews.
Two nights midweek. From Monday to Thursday cottages are most often available, and you practically have the whole shore to yourself.
A week of remote work. Some properties have Wi-Fi, while Villa Kiiltäväinen has fibre optic internet. Work from the cottage, then spend the afternoon by the lake.

Please note the rental season. Eight cottages are available from May to September. Villa Kiiltäväinen and Villa Längelmä are available year-round — see winter cottages.
Internet connections vary by property. Villa Längelmä and Villa Kiiltäväinen have gigabit fibre suitable for video meetings and remote work. Five cottages have Wi-Fi at approximately 10 Mbit/s, suitable for email, browsing and streaming. A 4G mobile router can be borrowed for Vehmaanpirtti, Tivoli and Pielppa.
Good to know
- Minimum stay: one night or more; the applicable minimum is shown during booking.
- Check-in at 16:00 and check-out at 12:00.
- A car is required; the properties cannot be reached by public transport.
- Pets are not allowed at three properties: Tikkamäki, Vehmaanpirtti and Villa Kiiltäväinen.
- Amenities vary. Tuura, Tikkamäki and Huvikumpu have an indoor toilet. Minttu and Tontti have a freezing Icelett indoor toilet and an outdoor toilet.
